“To promote the study, dissemination and good regulation of arbitration and ADR proceedings, to organise arbitration and ADR services and to cooperate with other Italian and foreign organisations having the same aims”. These are the objectives set out in the Statute of the Italian Association for Arbitration (AIA) which, under the aegis of the Italian National Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce, was founded in Rome on 16 October 1958.
AIA aims to promote the culture of arbitration as alternative method for resolution of commercial disputes through the organisation of conferences, seminars and training courses and provides assistance to practitioners and companies interested in arbitration.
AIA as an arbitral institution administers national and international arbitral proceedings on the basis of the rules of procedure for arbitration, overseen by the Court of Arbitration of AIA, whose last version will entry into force on 1 January 2016.
Amongst its publications, of great relevance is the “Rivista dell’Arbitrato”, a working tool for use of those interested in developing their knowledge in the field of arbitration and ADR in general.
Lastly, AIA, thanks also to the participation in the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA), has strengthened its relations with arbitration organisations all over the world.
